                Experiments in Russia on sequential generations of hamsters showed that those <a href="http://english.ruvr.ru/2010/04/16/6524765.html">fed with GM soya displayed reduced reproductive capability</a> to the extent that the third generation of hamsters were unable to give birth to cubs.

<blockquote>"We did not add anything for one group but the other was fed with soya that contained no GM components, while the third group with some content of Genetically Modified Organisms and the fourth one with increased amount of GMO. We monitored their behavior and how they gain weight and when they give birth to their cubs. Originally, everything went smoothly. However, we noticed quite a serious effect when we selected new pairs from their cubs and continued to feed them as before. These pairs’ growth rate was slower and reached their sexual maturity slowly. When we got some of their cubs we formed the new pairs of the third generation. We failed to get cubs from these pairs, which were fed with GM foodstuffs. It was proved that these pairs lost their ability to give birth to their cubs"</blockquote>

<blockquote>One Australian report suggests the GMO corn made by Monsanto causes significant fertility problems in mice (and, by implication, possibly humans).
<br /><br />
And a new study -- which had to resort to analyzing data sets produced by studies conducted by Monsanto and another biotech firm, Covance Laboratories, and submitted to European governments because researchers couldn't get seeds -- has found that Monsanto corn impairs rats' kidneys and livers. The "data strongly suggests" that after just 90 days of eating GM corn, rats experienced kidney toxicity and showed effects to their hearts, adrenal glands, spleen and blood cells. (The study was published in the International Journal of Biological Sciences.)</blockquote>

An interesting article from the Telegraph website listing their <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/6509550/The-10-best-webcomics-from-Achewood-to-XKCD.html"><em>almost</em> ten best webcomics</a>:

I notice they also left out <a href="http://www.exotictrousers.com/">Exotic Trousers</a>.

<img src="images/worldofquest.jpg" border ="0" alt="" align="left" height="160" width="240" style="padding-left:5px; padding-right:10px;" />My kids enjoy (amongst other shows) <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_Quest">World Of Quest</a>. It has a <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7cqLvW9E7Q">catchy theme song</a> (hey, I'm no Mozart) along with some amusing scripts which seem to be aimed at various levels like many cartoon shows these days.
</p>

<p>
Having got the tune in my head, I found myself frustatingly unable to sing the song because I didn't know the lyrics. Even worse, a search on Google revealed no lyrics! I was forced to figure them out for myself!
</p>

<p>
Anyway, here is what I came up with - the unauthorised, unsanctified "World Of Quest" lyrics, with no guarantee whatsoever as to their accuracy.
</p>

<blockquote>
My pal Quest does whatever I want<br />
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh<br />
Man, I gotta lose this little runt<br />
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh<br />
<br />

I get to boss him around when we're in a mess<br />
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh<br />
This Prince Nestor is a royal pest<br />
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh<br />
<br />

Save the world, World of Quest<br />
He may be large, but I'm in charge<br />
Save the world, World of Quest<br />
Without me kid, you wouldn't get too far<br />
<br />

Come along with Nestor and Quest<br />
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh<br />
Save the world, World of Quest<br />
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh<br />
<br />

I hate theme songs.

<p>
<strong>Superheroes do exist in real life and they are out to save the world</strong>
</p>

<p>
<a href="http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=50923712&albumID=503578&imageID=20958681#a=503578&i=9739742"><img src="images/rlsh/citizen_prime.jpg" border ="0" alt="Citizen Prime" align="right" height="150" width="133" style="padding-left:10px; padding-right:5px;" /></a>
Superheroes have been a part of American culture since the late 1930's. From Superman to Spiderman, superheroes have filled the hearts and minds of children and adults alike with feelings of awe and inspiration. Over the past several years, superheroes have become more than just characters in comic books. Conscientious citizens are creating their own superhero personas, putting on costumes, and going out to make their communities a better place. They call themselves Real Life Superheroes.
</p>

<p>
<a href="http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=278242515&albumID=526787&imageID=17126724#a=526787&i=14542554"><img src="images/rlsh/dark_guardian1.jpg" border ="0" alt="Dark Guardian" align="left" height="150" width="200" style="padding-left:5px; padding-right:10px;" /></a>
Real Life Superheroes is a grassroots movement of people who create a superhero identity and work in a fun, exciting, and inspirational fashion to make the world a better place. They are using the iconic essence of comic book superheroes to make a difference, inspire others, spread a positive message, and call attention to issues in their communities. <a href="http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=278242515&albumID=1214785&imageID=15720149#a=1214785&i=15720246"><img src="images/rlsh/dark_guardian_no2.jpg" border ="0" alt="Dark Guardian New Orleans" align="right" height="150" width="200" style="padding-left:10px; padding-right:5px;" /></a> They are making an impact by doing civic activities, public safety patrols, crime fighting, charity work, school talks, hospital visits, helping the needy, and more acts to serve society. They are breaking the comic book barrier and bringing the ideals of superheroes into the real world. . Real Life Superheroes create living positive role models which our children are in need of.
The concept of a superhero, an individual who aspires to a higher moral code which benefits society, has a psychological impact on children, both appealing to their sense of fun as well as teach them important values.
</p>

<p>
<a href="http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=278242515&albumID=1214785&imageID=15720246#a=1214785&i=15727543"><img src="images/rlsh/dark_guardian_no3.jpg" border ="0" alt="Dark Guardian New Orleans" align="left" height="150" width="200" style="padding-left:5px; padding-right:10px;" /></a>
With names like Dark Guardian, Zetaman, and Citizen Prime, Real Life Superheroes have been out patrolling our streets, helping the needy, assisting in crime prevention, and inspiring others for many years now. It is a growing movement where more and more people are creating their own superhero personas and taking to the streets to make a difference.
</p>

<p>
 Real Life Superheroes believe there is a hero in everyone and if we can tap into that and help people find the hero in themselves we could live in a much better place. They hope through their actions they can inspire others to go out and be a little more super themselves.
</p>

This game might seem a little bewildering at first, but stick with it, because <a href="http://fantasticcontraption.com/">Fantastic Contraption</a> is an excellent game.
</p>
<p>
The game consists of a series of puzzles, all based around trying to get a pink wheel into a pink area of the board by building fantasic contraptions to move it there. Clear as mud? It's very hard to describe, just give it a try. The contraptions, which can be built from materials provided at the top of the screen, follow basic rules of physics, so there is a logic to the whole process.
</p>
<p>
At the last count there were 21 levels to play, but I believe one of the priorities of the author is for there to be 40 levels. One really great inclusion is that having built a successful contraption, you can then see other people's contraptions for that level, and some of them are truly fantastic!

My favourite Ska track ever. Shame the video isn't particularly inspiring but just sit back and imagine yourself on that train to Rainbow City (making sure you are very careful when passing Prince Buster's house).

<P>
Because you deserve it, and because I'm not just about idiocy, here's a track,<strong> Valerie</strong>, from a band called Broadcast, influenced quite heavily by a Czech movie called <strong>Valerie and her Week of Wonders</strong>. I haven't seen it yet but I intend to. I believe it to be an Eastern European Wicker Man type thing. Surely that's a good thing for it to be.
