Some of the most interesting art being made these days is way out from the mainstream, (which these days seems to be one-joke "shock" installations that are accepted for their commercial collectability and because the artists went to the same art colleges as the art establishment - this is of course a generalisation).
Increasingly I'm getting into art that exists without the "permission" of the establishment. One of my favourite artists of that description is Josh Agle, or Shag as he's more commonly known.
I love the way his paintings unashamedly revel in retro pop culture, and how every picture tells a story. Yet much is left unexplained so you have to fill in the story details yourself.
